The challenge with moving a machine is rarely the driving. The challenge is getting the machine out of the building it currently lives in, and getting it into the building it is supposed to end up in. CNC machines, lathes, mills, presses, ovens, compressors, packaging lines — none of these were designed to be moved regularly. They sit on the shop floor. They were installed with a forklift at one end of their lives, and the assumption tends to be that another forklift will appear at the other end. Often it does not.

A self-loading HIAB flatbed neatly addresses that missing forklift problem at both ends of the journey. Provided the crane has a line of sight and enough reach into the building, we can extract a machine directly from inside a workshop — through an opened roller shutter or a yard door — without needing the customer to organise a forklift first. The same applies at the destination: the machine goes in through the doorway and onto its base by the same crane that loaded it. Where the receiving building has a clear path but no lifting equipment, this service is often the cheapest way to get the job done full stop.

We get booked most often for factory relocations, second-hand machinery purchases, workshop clearances and equipment trade-ins. Factory relocations are usually planned weeks ahead and we slot into the schedule alongside the customer's own moving plan. Machinery purchases — where someone has bought a machine from a vendor or auction site and now needs it home — tend to be quoted as a single fixed price point-to-point. Workshop clearances are often a series of jobs over a few days as plant comes off the floor in priority order.
