Plant Haulage in Kent

Plant haulage is one of the steadier parts of our weekly work. Hire depots in Kent run a constant flow of machines out to sites and back again — mini-diggers, micro-excavators, tracked dumpers, generators, compressors, light towers, breaker units, road plates and the rest. Builders, groundworkers and contractors expect those machines to arrive on the day they were booked for, ready to work. Our HIAB-fitted lorries run that traffic alongside our crane hire and container delivery work, giving us a deep familiarity with the depots, the loading patterns and the typical sites involved.

The advantage of using a HIAB-fitted vehicle for plant haulage is what happens at the destination. Most beavertails and plant trailers rely on the customer's site having either a level ramp area or a forklift on standby. A HIAB lorry does not. We load at the depot using the crane on the vehicle, then unload onto the site using the same crane — whether the site has a level loading point or not. For sites with restricted access, sloping ground, soft surfaces or no nearby hardstanding, that flexibility is the difference between a delivery that works first time and one that has to be re-attempted.

We cover the typical plant size range that fits on a HIAB-equipped flatbed: micro and mini-diggers up to roughly 3 tonnes, small wheeled and tracked dumpers, generators and compressors up to typical hire-fleet size, welfare cabins, dust suppression and dewatering kit, road plates and trench sheets. Larger items — heavier tracked machines or 13-tonne plus excavators — are outside this service and would be quoted under our specialist transport service instead.
